Hanukkah Ruffian Nails

Hey Y'all!!  Is everyone ready for the Holiday season to kick off?  No?  Me either!  But I did want to get a quick post or two done today.  Since I've already done some Thanksgiving manis, I thought I would do a couple of Hanukkah ones.  My first one is a Hanukkah Ruffian:
I Used:
Pure Ice- French Kiss (bright blue crème)
Pure Ice- Silver Mercedes (silver foil)
Fine detail brush

So Ruffian still isn't one of my favorite designs, but I like how this one turned out.  I think putting the darker color on bottom and the lighter on top doesn't shrink the look of your nails as much as the other way around.
I started with two coats of Pure Ice French Kiss.  I did the silver free hand using a small detail brush.  If you have more patience than I do, you could probably cut out a U shape in scotch tape and use that for the ruffian design.  Otherwise, using a fine brush, carefully make a U shape line about 1/4 of an inch from your cuticle.  Then fill in the rest of the nail to the tip with your silver polish.  Be careful when using a foil polish...they show every dent.  Sadly, I made a couple waiting for this to dry.  But it's so hard to sit still sometimes while your polish dries.  This may need two coats to completely cover the blue underneath.
Of course you can switch which color is on top.  It would be fun to switch them for an accent nail or two.

I hope y'all enjoyed today's post.  Happy Polishing!!  And for my US followers, Happy Thanksgiving!!  And Happy Hanukkah!!

Thanksgiving / Fall Glitter

Hi Y'all!!  I hope you are somewhere dry and warm cause I'm sure not!!!  Really?  Rain?  Flooding?  Highs in the low 40's?  If we even reach the 40's.  And tomorrow morning's forecast calls for snow!  I live in the south dang it!!!  I miss Florida!  I miss Summer!  The one and only day of the year that should be cold and possibly snowy is Christmas Day.  Other than that, you can have it!  But at least the shopping for Thanksgiving is done and the now-a-teen doesn't have dance, so other than walking the babies, I can stay inside :)

I have one more Thanksgiving/Fall manicure for you today, a pretty glitter combination:
I Used:
Orly- Rapture (brown crème)
Orly- Lavish Bash (gold and holo top coat)

For this mani I started with two coats of Orly Rapture, a gorgeous, rich, chocolate crème.  Love this color.  I then topped it with one coat of Orly Lavish Bash.  Lavish Bash is a clear base polish with micro gold, small holo hexagon and small holo bar glitter.  And yep, that's just one coat.  I'm sure with two or three coats you could get complete coverage.  And it's definitely worth trying because it's gorgeous!  I love, love this polish!
Pictures do not do this polish justice, it is incredible in person.  Sadly, I wore it for two days and the sun never came out, not once.  But it captures the smallest amount of light and sparkles like crazy!

Hope y'all enjoyed today's post!  I will have Hanukkah manis coming soon!  Now I'm off to cuddle with my fur babies and hopefully stay warm!  Be safe and Happy Polishing!!

Thanksgiving (Fall) French Tips

Hey Y'all!!  I'm sorry this is so late!  The now-a-teen and I went out to finish up the shopping for Thanksgiving and time just got away from us.  So let me get right to it...today I have French tips that would be great for Thanksgiving or Fall:
And on shorter nails:

I Used:
Butter London- Cuppa (very light beige crème)
Butter London- Shag (rusty brown shimmer)
Scotch Tape

I started this mani by painting all of my nails with Butter London Cuppa, a pretty light/almost white beige crème.  Once that had dried completely, I used scotch tape to make the French tips (click here for the directions on how to tape of a French tip).  I used Butter London Shag, a shimmery rusty brown for the tips.  Both polishes were great.  There was streaking and balding on the first coat, but everything evened out on the second coat.  And yes, I had to do two coats for both colors.  The one big disappointment is the wearing...you can see it on my thumb nail in the picture above.  These photos were taken just about 20 hours after I put it on.

Don't forget the top coat!!  And be sure to come back tomorrow for another Thanksgiving/Fall mani.  Happy Polishing!!

Catching Fire Opening Day Manicure

Hey Y'all!!  I have a quick mani for you today before the now-a-teen and I head out to see Catching Fire!!  And here's my choice for opening day:
I Used:
China Glaze- Liquid Leather (black crème)
Orly- Unlawful (red crème)
Make up sponges

I started with two coats of Orly Unlawful as a base.  Then using the make up sponges, I sponged on the gradient (just click on the word gradient in the right hand column for more details on how to do this type of gradient).
I hope y'all like it.  Since I've done a lot of flames and Hunger Games manis and I can't draw a bird, I went with the colors from the book cover.  Now the now-a-teen and I are off to lunch and to see the movie.  Happy Polishing!!!

TIOT: Jade Psicodelica and Fascinio Violeta

Hey Y'all!!  Happy Thursday!!  Can you believe Thanksgiving and Chanukah are only a week away??  Where has the year gone?  I'm not ready!  From now until the end of February is always so incredibly busy...and I still feel lazy.  I'm just not ready.  Oh well...on to today's post!

I realize it's actually Thursday, but since I missed getting my post up on Tuesday I've decided to have a Try It On Thursday instead.  Besides these polishes are just too gorgeous to miss posting!!  I have two polishes for you today from Jade, a fabulous polish from Brazil.  First up is Psicodelica, a silver linear holographic:
Isn't this incredible???  So much sparkle and color!!

Next up is Fascinio Violeta, a perfect purple linear holographic polish (and my favorite):

And they look gorgeous inside too!!
The only light these don't sparkle under is fluorescent.  Any other light source and they are going to be fabulous!!

The formula on these was perfect!!  Smooth, perfect coverage, no balding or streaking.  Pictures show two coats WITH TOP COAT!  Yep, you read that right.  You can put a top coat on it for a longer wear time.  If you have natural nails OR acrylic nails, I strongly suggest wearing a top coat as a base coat (I used Seche Vite).  Linear holos need a smooth base to get that fabulous linear effect.

These are also reasonably priced.  I ordered the Psicodelica from Llarowe for $8.00.  Regular polishes are $5.

Fascinio Violeta was ordered from Color4Nails for $6.50.

Y'all have a fabulous rest of your day.  I have to run as my 70 pound Tilly has decided to crawl up on my lap for a nap.  Happy Polishing!!

Mish Mash Challenge: Gray

Hi Y'all!!  So happy to be back!!  I know I've been missing for a few days, but I have a really good reason.  As you may know I have 2 fur babies, Chinese Chins that weigh 9 and 12 pounds.  My now-a-teen has a rescue fur baby that weighs 55 pounds.  All three dogs.  Well when the hubby and I went to get their food they were having an adoption and one little girl caught my eye.  I just knew she needed me!  So meet our newest fur baby, she's just a tiny thing (please forgive the blurry pic):
Ok, maybe little is an exaggeration!  My daughter is 5' tall if you're curious.  LOL  Meet Tilly, my 70 pound new fur baby!  Anyway, keeping all my jealous babies being nice to each other has been a full time job!  But things are getting better.

And even though I'm WAY later than normal for my challenge post, it's still Wednesday somewhere in the USA!  This week's prompt is gray, and I did a dotty gradient:
I Used:
LA Colors- Lost Soul (light gray crème)
China Glaze- Hook and Line (light gray with silver shimmer)
China Glaze- Concrete Catwalk (dark gray crème)
China Glaze- Liquid Leather (black crème)
Dotting Tools

I started with two coats of LA Colors Lost Soul (depressing name, huh?).  Then using a dotting tool I created the gradient with a small and medium dotting tool.
For originally doing the wrong prompt and having no idea what to do for gray, I like how these turned out.  It's fun.  .

Be sure to check out what the other lovely ladies have done for gray, or grey depending on how they've spelled it, lol (grammar lesson: they are both right, Americans spell it gray and Europeans spell it grey).  I'm going to bed so I can get back to refereeing the little fur monsters tomorrow!  Happy Polishing!!

Review: Loreal The Magic Top Coats The Holographic

Hey Y'all!!  Happy Thursday!  I hope y'all are staying warm where ever you are, cause I'm not!!  When I moved from Florida to North Georgia, one of the things I was most excited about was having actual seasons!  See in Florida you have 10 months of hot, 1 1/2 months of not as hot, and 2 weeks of cold.  Well now that I live in Georgia I've discovered something about myself....I HATE THE COLD!!!!  And it's just started :(  I have the feeling I'm in for a long winter.

But on to happier things, nail polish!!  Loreal has come out with a 5 piece collection called "The Magic Top Coats".   They consists of:

Matte Velvet- matte top coat
True Diamond- micro silver glitter top coat in clear base
The Sparkilicious- large black and holographic glitter in clear base
Shift Me- iridescent shimmer
The Holographic- iridescent flakies
(Click here for a short video demonstration of the new top coats)

The only one I bought was The Holographic, which I disagree with the title.  To me this was more iridescent flakies than holographic, but that's just my opinion:
The pictures show two coats of The Holographic over a base of OPI Vant To Bite My Neck? (a dark grape purple crème) with a coat of Seche Vite to even it all out.  The formula on this was ok.  It was pretty thick and gloppy.  The biggest problem with that is that the flakies don't lay flat.  I had to kind of mash them down while it was still wet.
Overall, this polish was worth the effort, I love the effect! This kind of flakie makes me feel like I have little lights on my nails!  The glitter factor is huge; it takes very little light for the flakies to flash and sparkle.  And it's head and heels over the Revlon flakie top coats.

I will say these are hard to find.  I found them only at one Walgreens (and there are 4 in the two county area).  That's it.  One.  They retail for $5.99 each.  If you find them, I would recommend getting a couple.  They will add a nice bling to your Holiday nails.

And if you haven't already, be sure to enter our $150 e-card Giveaway!!!  Happy Polishing!!

Mish Mash Challenge: Faux Stone

Hey Y'all!!  First, be sure to enter our Metro Atlanta Beauty Giveaway for a $150 e-card giveaway to the site of your choice!!  You can even have it sent to your paypal account!!  How great is that?

Ok, now it's time for the Mish Mash Challenge.  This week's theme is faux stone and I went with one of my favorites, goldstone:
Love it!!!  And here is my version:
I Used:
Zoya: Pepper (rust colored crème)
Sally Hansen Triple Shine- Dream Sequins (small copper colored glitter in a clear base)

The second I saw Zoya Pepper I thought of goldstone!  Knowing this challenge was coming, I set out looking for small copper colored glitter.  It took a while, but I finally found Sally Hansen Triple Shine!  Yay!  It takes so little to make me happy!  Pictures show two coats of Pepper and one coat of Dream Sequins, with top coat.
I'm so excited this turned out.  Way better than my amber mani, lol.

Be sure to check out the incredible manis from the ladies below.  Happy Polishing!!

TIOT: Wet-n-Wild Sea Change

Hey Y'all!!  It's Try It On Tuesday!!  I have mixed feelings about TIOT.  I love, love, love having a day set aside every week for trying my ever growing pile of un-trieds.  But it makes me sad that I've neglected these pretty polishes.  I know, the problems of a blogger, lol.

Anyway, today I have Wet-n-Wild Sea Change for you:
Sea Change is a black jelly with a fabulous teal shimmer.
Sadly pictures do not do this polish justice.
The formula on this was a bit thicker than normal Wet-n-Wild polishes, but a little thinner made it workable.  Pictures show two coats with top coat.  I just loved this color!  Such a shame I don't get to wear it for very long.
I hope you enjoy today's mani, and be sure to check back tonight AFTER midnight for a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!  Happy Polishing!!

My Tampa Bay Buccaneers Mani

Hey Y'all!!  I'm so excited for tonight!  I love football!!  Especially my Tampa Bay Buccaneers!!  I know.  They aren't having the best season, but they're still my team and I still love them!  Now my husband's favorite team is the Miami Dolphins...they play each other tonight.  Yep!  It's a "me v. him" kind of day.  And my team needs some extra help:
I Used:
Zoya:  Rekha (dark red crème)
Zoya:  Raven (black with a silver shimmer, looks like a shimmery charcoal)
Zoya:  Jules (taupe with silver, gold and champagne shimmer, looks like a light pewter)
Dotting Tools
What do you think?  Will this give my poor Bucs that needed push?  Remember, "it's only weird if it doesn't work"!

Don't forget you don't need dotting tools to do this mani!  Just use what you have: pins, pens, toothpicks, what ever you can find.

Hope y'all enjoy today's mani!  Be sure to keep checking my blog this week.  Along with the normal TIOT and Mish Mash Wednesday; I have a HUGE announcement on Wednesday!!  Trust me!  You don't want to miss it!  Happy Polishing!!

Review: Rehab For Hands & Rehab For Feet

The following products were furnished to Glittery Fingers & Sparkling Toes for review.  The opinions expressed are my own and were in not influenced in any way.

Hi Y'all!!  First, this is a big post, but trust me, you don't want to miss this!!  As many of you know I'm a Florida native who now lives in north Georgia, and you know what?  My skin hates Georgia!!  I don't know if it's because I'm use to higher humidity or lower sea level, but my skin stays so dry that it's often painful.  Seriously, even in the summer.  And during the Winter, my skin cracks all the time.  You name the lotion, I've tried it.  From high end to bargain basement, I've used them all.  I've even used pure baby oil and all that did was make taking showers an Olympic sport (think really bad ice skating, who knew baby oil was so slippery).  So when I was contacted by the makers of Rehab For Hands & Rehab For Feet, by Really Works Beauty Solutions, to try their new skin care, I was skeptical to say the least.  I even said that to the company, but they asked that I just try Rehab , this product is different they said.  And you know what?  They were right!!!
When I asked how this product was different, their answer was, "Most lotions provide short-term relief of symptoms, but ultimately leave your skin as dry as ever. You need a treatment that’s specially formulated to put the moisture back into dry skin and keep it there.
Our Atlanta-based company, ReallyWorks Beauty Solutions, has developed two hyaluronic acid-based treatments that truly hydrate hands and feet and actually help the skin retain that moisture.  The formulas are potent, yet gentle to all skin types.  They can also be used anywhere you have dry skin, like elbows, knees and other rough patches."  Just think!  Hyaluronic acid based formulas, the same ingredient found in those expensive face creams, now available for our hands and feet!!

But I bet you're ready for the before and after pictures (details after the pictures!)!  Just a warning, my skin was in terrible shape!!  I hadn't used a pumice in months.  I gave up on lotions.  Just know that the ONLY THING I USED WAS REHAB!  No pumice stone, no other lotion!
 Right Foot:
Left Foot:
Left Hand

Right Hand, sadly I didn't take a picture of the top of my hands for the before, because I didn't expect the lotion to make my hands look so young!!
Before Right:
Isn't that incredible???????  The results were amazing!!!  I honestly was blown away!  The time difference between the before and after pictures is 5 weeks, but I started seeing results in just 3 days!  The instructions were to use Rehab For Hands 3 times a day for two weeks, then just as needed.  And the instructions for Rehab For Feet was to use it two times a day, then again, just as needed.  What I did:  I used both lotions two times a day for the two weeks (sorry Rehab), then every two to three days for the next three weeks.  The results you see above were visible within that two week time frame.  The results lasted!!  Neither my hands or feet started drying out.  They remained fabulously soft and un-chafed!  And still do!!

I have found my new hand and foot lotion!!  And the best part?  The price!  Rehab For Feet is $24.00 for 4 oz. and Rehab For Hands is $18.00 for 2.5 oz.  And after 5 weeks, I still have plenty of hand lotion left, but my Rehab for Feet is getting low.  I think that is a fabulous deal!  And the results can not be beat!!

To order your own Rehab, simply click on the links above!!

I love that the creator of Rehab, was tired of wasting money on products that didn't work, and decided to create her own.  Now I can stop wasting mine!  Thank you Nethea!!
