Studded Mint & Gold Half Moons

Press Sample

Hey Y'all!!  Happy Friday!!  Anyone have plans for the holiday weekend (here in the US it's Memorial Day)?  We only have plans to do nothing!  We've gone for 4 straight weeks, so we plan to be complete couch potatoes this weekend.  Plus the hubby has to work today and Friday.  But it will be so nice to sleep in!

For today I have an elegant twist on the Half Moon, Studded Mint & Gold Half Moons:
I Used:
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri- Mint Sprint (dark mint/turquoise crème)
Sally Hansen I Love Nail Art Stud Kit- gold studs

Preen.me sent me a bunch of fun and fabulous Sally Hansen products to try (and you will see them all in up coming posts)!  And this design leaped out to me the second I saw the products!  I think this is such a modern and elegant take on half moons and is a whole lot easier to do!
Start with two coats of Sally Hansen Insti-Dri in Mint Spring.  Loved this polish!  It was a dream!  And to be honest, you can get away with just one coat.  I can't...I just have to do two.  I just do.  Plus I think the mani last longer with two coats, but that is just my opinion.
The gold studs are part of the Sally Hansen I Love Nail Art stud kit.  It comes with gold studs, and black and white rhinestones and a rubber tipped stick to help with placing them.  This is such a fabulous kit!  And it contains a lot of studs.  After completing this many you could barely tell I used any of them!

For the next step, you need to work with one nail at a time.  Paint a pretty thick coat of top coat then working quickly, place the studs.  I chose to place them in a more triangular shape...makes me think of art deco, which I love.  Once all the studs are placed, apply another coat of top coat to secure your look!

I hope you enjoyed today's look!  Happy Polishing!!

Purple & Blue Flashes

Hey Y'all!  Since this is my second (yay) post of the day, I'll get right to it.  Here is the design I came up with using Formula X Photoelectric and Equinox:
I Used:
Formula X- Photoelectric (blue with blue to purple shimmer)
Formula X- Equinox (purple shimmer)
Scotch Tape

This was a fun and easy manicure to do.  I started with two coats of Formula X Photoelectric on all my nails.  Then on every nail except the ring fingers, I placed two pieces of tape forming a V shape.  Next I painted a thick coat of Formula Equinox and immediately removed the tape.
I did the ring finger a little differently.  Since the blue is lighter, I painted the nail with the blue Formula X Photoelectric.  Then I cut out a V shape in the scotch tape, placed it on my nail and then painted two coats of Formula X Equinox.
Then top everything with top coat!
I hope y'all have a fabulous Monday!  Happy Polishing!!

Art Deco Double V Design

Hey Y'all!!  Happy Friday!!  Anyone have any big plans this weekend?  Anyone have any little plans for the weekend?  I think after the teen's dance classes and rehearsals, we're going to just come home and chill.  It's supposed to rain all day Sunday, so I'm thinking, comfort food pig out and catching up on all our DVR shows.

Ok, so I had no idea what to call this design, so I went with what it looks like, Art Deco Double V Design:

I Used:
Urban Outfitters- Bandeau (dark neon purple)
Sparitual- Strength Diamond Shimmer (rose gold ultra shimmer)
Striping Tape
Scotch Tape

First off, I have a review coming next week for the Urban Outfitter polishes I bought.  But when I saw the Sparitual and Urban Outfitters Bandeau, I knew I had to come up with a design for these two colors.  I though they looked so fabulous together!

I started with two coats of Urban Outfitters Bandeau.  Once that was completely dry, it was time for the taping.  I used scotch tape to mark off a large V on all the nails.   Then, using striping tape, I taped off a small V shape in every other nail.  Sadly, my pictures didn't show the taping very well because of the dark polish and I used dark striping tape, but it will give you the idea at least:
Tips for taping:  For the taping your non-dominate hand, try holding the tape steady, stretched between your thumb and fingers and moving your finger into place, instead of moving the tape.  Also, it may be easier to use tweezers to place the striping tape since it's so small.

Once all the tape is in place, paint two coats of Sparitual Strength Diamond Shimmer.  Once the second coat is painted, immediately remove the tape.
Don't forget to use top coat!!

Hope y'all enjoyed today's design and that you have a fabulous weekend!  Happy Polishing!!

Hey Y'all!!  How's your Wednesday going?  Mine is ok...I seem a little lost today, lol.  I've been working on this mani all day and am just now getting it up.  I've been easily distracted.  I've looked at every odd-ball story on the Internet today.  Really!!  Ask me about the "new evidence of Bigfoot", I can tell you all about it!!  (FYI, it looked like Chewbacca after a wild night)

Anyway, what was I doing?  Oh yeah.  Today is the Mish Mash Challenge with my fabulous gals!!  And today's theme is triangles:
So I went a little crazy with the triangle designs, lol.  I couldn't make up what I wanted to do, so I did them all!

Mish Mash Challenge: Tape

Happy Hump Day Y'all!!!  I'm so happy it's Wednesday!  I LOVE my challenge ladies and LOVE seeing all their art!!  So week two of the Mish Mash Challenge is tape!  And here is my entry:
I Used:
Sinful Colors- Snow Me White (white crème)
China Glaze- Turned Up Turquoise (neon turquoise)
China Glaze- Creative Fantasy (dark purple neon)
Orly- La Vida Loca (dark neon pink)
Sinful Colors- Heavy Metal
Orly- Black Vinyl (black crème)
Scotch Tape
Liner Brush

I really like how this turned out, and I received a lot of compliments on it.  But y'all know how I tell you, "trust me, this is easy and will only take you a few minutes"?  Yeah, not this one.  This one will take you a good hour to hour and a half.  But it's worth it!

I started with two coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White since I used neon.  I wanted to make sure the colors popped.
Then using a liner brush, I painted stripes in various directions on my nails (In case you missed my Tip page tip on brushes, a strongly suggest you buy a cheap liner brush.  That way every polish you own can be used instead of buying all the different, and expensive, liner polishes.
Then using scotch tape, cut out triangles in different shapes and sizes:
Place the tape on your nails in random patterns and paint over the entire nail in black.  Immediately remove the tape.

I hope y'all enjoy today's post!  Be sure to join me and check out all the other ladies' amazing designs!!  They are incredible!!

And if you haven't already, be sure to enter my One Year Blog-iversary Giveaway!!  Happy Polishing!!

Triangle Tape Art

This is a fun and easy design. The polishes I used were:

China Glaze: Pink Voltage
Confetti: Black Tie

You will need: scotch tape, scissors and two colors of nail polish.

Start with two coats of the neon pink.

Cut a triangle out of a piece of tape. (Note: put the tape on the palm of your hand to remove some of the stickiness so it won't pull up your polish.) Place the tape on your nail with the tip of the tape near your cuticle. Then paint the entire nail black. Remove the tape as soon as your done so it won't pull the polish off.

Use a top coat and enjoy your design!
