Spring Flames

Hey Y'all!!  TGIF!  So, who's excited for the weekend?  Anyone have fun plans?  Not much going on for us this weekend.  The teen has rehearsals for her ballet performance next weekend, so I'll just be playing chauffer and food getter.  And not just this weekend, but for the next 9 days.  That's the true job of a Dance Mom!

So, y'all know how much I love doing flames, so for today I have Spring Flames for you!

I Used:
Wet-n-Wild:  A Latte Love, a very light beige crème
OPI:  Lost My Bikini in Molokini, a pretty, violet crème
Nailtini:  Blue Magic, a bright cobalt blue crème
Orly:  Choreographed Chaos, a bright pastel pink with a blue shimmer
Liner Brush

First, please forgive the big chip on my index finger.  By the time the sun came out, I had worn this mani for several days and chipped it right before going to get sun photos.  To start this mani, paint one coat of your base color.  In this case I used Wet-n-Wild A Latte Love.  Once that has dried and only working on one finger at a time, paint a second, thick coat.  Then put stripes/drops of each color of your flame across your nail tip.

Then using a thin brush or toothpick, drag it through the colors towards your cuticle.  Wipe off your brush, and drag from your cuticle towards the tip.  Be sure to work on only one nail at a time because the polish needs to be very wet for this method.  And don't forget the top coat!

Mish Mash Challenge: Seasons

Hey Y'all!!  I'm so sorry I've been missing this week, but last week kicked my butt!!  Here's last week's weather:

Monday: 60's

Tuesday: Ice (3 inches)

Wednesday:  Snow (6 inches)

Thursday: Snow (1 inch)

Friday:  Earthquake

Saturday:  30-40 mph winds

Sunday:  Earthquake

And today??  70's!  WTH??  I think someone is really hating Georgia right now!!  We must have been really bad, huh?  But the weather made the week nuts, not to mention getting the now-a-teen to all of her dance classes that were switched all around.  But I made it!

Today is the last Mish Mash Challenge :(  I'm so sad :(  But, after a little time off, I'm sure we will all be back with another new challenge!  Everybody just needs some time to recoup.  But on to the challenge!  This week's theme is Seasons!  And if you can't tell by all my blog rants, facebook rants and instagram rants....I'M SICK OF WINTER!!!  I want Summer!!!  I want to be hot!  I want the sun!!  I wanna wear shorts!  Uh-hum, so I chose Summer.  I went with a water marble to reflect the beach:

I Used:
China Glaze- Fast Track (beige with gold shimmer)
China Glaze- Turned Up Turquoise (neon turquoise shimmer)
Orly- Teal Unreal (dark teal crème)
China Glaze- White on White (white crème)

I was so frustrated with this design!!!  I used 4 different teals/turquoise and they all bubbled!!  And I was determined to do this design with these colors.  The China Glaze Fast Track is for the beach, then two shades for the water.  I love the actual design....hate the bubbles!!

I hate that my last Mish Mash design was a fail, but after three different attempts...I just ran out of time...and patience!  I think it's the weather's fault.  I know I've lost patience with the weather!!

Thanksgiving (Fall) French Tips

Hey Y'all!!  I'm sorry this is so late!  The now-a-teen and I went out to finish up the shopping for Thanksgiving and time just got away from us.  So let me get right to it...today I have French tips that would be great for Thanksgiving or Fall:

And on shorter nails:

I Used:
Butter London- Cuppa (very light beige crème)
Butter London- Shag (rusty brown shimmer)
Scotch Tape

I started this mani by painting all of my nails with Butter London Cuppa, a pretty light/almost white beige crème.  Once that had dried completely, I used scotch tape to make the French tips (click here for the directions on how to tape of a French tip).  I used Butter London Shag, a shimmery rusty brown for the tips.  Both polishes were great.  There was streaking and balding on the first coat, but everything evened out on the second coat.  And yes, I had to do two coats for both colors.  The one big disappointment is the wearing...you can see it on my thumb nail in the picture above.  These photos were taken just about 20 hours after I put it on.

Mish Mash Challenge: Holographic

Hey Y'all!!  Happy Hump Day!!  (I know everyone is tired of Hump Day, but I love it!  I also love The Fox" song, so :p)  LOL.  I hope everyone is having a fabulous week!  We're in our busy time of year when the now-a-teen is constantly rehearsing for "The Nutcracker".  This is her first year to dance en pointe in a company production and I'm one proud Mama!  But it means being out of the house every night for hours.  Do y'all know how hard it is to paint your nails in a car??  It's really hard!!

Ok, to the challenge.  I love holo polishes and would have had a hard time choosing.  But, the ladies and I recently had a Halloween swap, and I received the most incredible polishes from Raquel at Sunshine Nails!!!  LOVE HER!!  And I'm using two of them today:  Perfect Holographic polishes in H4 and H6 (I'll explain the names after the break):

How much do you love holographic polishes???  And how much do I love Raquel for these fabulous polishes?? 

I Used:
Perfect Holographic- H6 (a beige/peach linear holo) from Raquel
Perfect Holographic- H4 (sky blue linear holo) from Raquel
Perfect Holographic- H7 (purple linear holo)

I used Perfect Holographic H4 for all of my nails except the ring finger. Then on my ring finger I created a water marble using all three Perfect Holographic polishes.

These polishes are amazing!!  The holo effect is extremely obvious, even inside and under low lights.  Love these so much!! Thank you again Raquel!!  Be sure to check out all the ladies' holo manis below.  Happy Polishing!!

Barielle Nude & Naughty

Hey Y'all!!  You may have seen on my facebook page, but....I was the Grand Prize Winner in Barielle's recent giveaway!!!  I'm so happy!!!

I won a silver Cole Haan tote, Barielle top coat, two of their nail health products and their new fall polish collections, Nude & Naughty and Sophisticated Lady!!  So, today I have Nude & Naughty for you!!

First up is:

Very Bare is a gorgeous cream color with just a slight leaning towards yellow.  This is a pretty crème that will work great with all skin tones, especially since the "yellow leaning" can only be seen in the bottle.  On the hands it's a pretty, soft white.  The pictures show three coats with top coat.  This was the only nude color that needed three coats to erase any visible nail line.  I didn't think I would like this color, but I love it.  And it's such a great alternative to basic white.

Next:

Pillow Talk is a pretty light beige crème.  It had excellent coverage, the pictures show two coats with top coat.  Pillow Talk leans slightly toward more of a pink hue, but I think it will go really well with any skin tone.

No Not Now is a tan/nude polish with a very subtle silver shimmer.  It's actually so subtle, it only shows up in the bottle.  This has a pretty strong leaning towards pink, so it may not work great for those with yellow/olive undertones.  I don't think it looked that great with my skin tone.  The pictures show two coats with top coat.

You can kind of see the effect the silver shimmer in the above picture.

I've Got A Secret is a pretty light brown with a gorgeous golden peach shimmer.  This is just a super pretty neutral.  And the shimmer is very obvious.  Loved this color.  The pictures show two coats with top coat.

And last but not least:

In Good Taste is a beautiful muddy olive green neutral crème.  It depends on the light as to what is more obvious, the green or brown, but for the most part, the green is more dominant.  I love this color!!

The picture shows two coats with top coat.  But with careful application this could be a one coater.  You will love this for fall!
