MABB Bi-Weekly Question 11/6/13

Photobucket
Every other Wednesday, the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers will answer a beauty-related question just for fun! This week's question is...
If you had to either give up ALL makeup for two months or give up your skincare routine for a week and just simply wash your face with soap and water.. which would you pick?

This question cracked me up!  Mainly because I don't go to the mailbox without make up!!  But seriously, as much as I love my current skin care products, I would pick my make up.  As a matter of fact, I used just soap and water for years and years.  Until I got older and needed more help that is.  But it would have to be a really good soap.  I always liked Oil of Olay's bar soap.  It's gentle, cleansing and didn't dry my skin out.  Besides, the skin care is only for one week...the make up is for two whole months!!  I can't think of anything I want to give up for two months!!

What about you??  Be sure to check the other fab MABB ladies to see what they were willing to give up.

MABB Bi-Weekly Question Fall Fragrances

Photobucket
Every other Wednesday, the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers will answer a beauty-related question just for fun! This week's question is...
What are your go-to fall fragrances?
[Your answer goes here!]

So, let me start with this:  I hate flowers.  I know, anti-feminine.  But I can't stand them.  The only flower print you will find in my house is there because someone else gave it to me...and it's probably hidden.  So you know the answer here isn't going to be anything overtly flowery.  During the Fall (and Winter) I love spicy perfume.  Sandalwood, cinnamon, clove....anything but musk.

My all time favorite perfume is no longer made :(  It was Uninhibited by Cher, a sandalwood based perfume.
So now my favorite is Shalimar:
While there are subtle notes of flowers, the main impression of Shalimar is spicy and exotic.

I'm still on the lookout for a new favorite perfume, so if you have any suggestions, please let me know.  Meanwhile, I'm off to check out the MABB ladies' favorite perfumes.  Maybe I'll find a new one.

MABB Bi-Weekly Question 10/9

Photobucket
Every other Wednesday, the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers will answer a beauty-related question just for fun! This week's question is...
On a daily basis, do you favor bright colors or neutrals?

I do love neutrals, really I do.  And I do wear them...occasionally.  I would say once a week I'll wear neutral colors, in clothes and make up.  I wear neutral polish a lot less often.  But on a daily basis I love color!  Tangerine lipstick, neon nails, bright colored clothes are my favorites <3  And purple is my absolute favorite color!  In any shade!!  I wear purple nails, clothes and make up as often as I can in every season!

What about you?

Be sure to check out the amazing women below to see their answers :)

MABB Bi-Weekly Question

Photobucket
Every other Wednesday, the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers will answer a beauty-related question just for fun! This week's question is...

What makeup items are you more likely to splurge on?

There isn't that much I'm really going to splurge on, really only two items.  But when I splurge, I really splurge, lol.  For the most part, my make up comes from everywhere from Dollar Tree to drug stores.  But one thing I have always splurged on is my foundation:
It's Lancôme Tient Visionnaire.  I LOVE this stuff!!!  It is fabulous for those of us that are older and may have dark spots, uneven coloring, sun damage, etc.  As much as I love it (and the entire Visionnaire line), I'm a little embarrassed by the price...$60.  But it does last a really long time.  I just bought this and probably won't need anymore until the end of the year at the earliest.

The other thing I splurge on is skin care: lotions, serums, anything that promises the fountain of youth in a bottle, lol!  I do love Lancôme's Visionnaire line (there are two I really want), but at about $100 each, I'm just not ready to splurge that much!  So I'm trying to find something new now.

The only other place I sometimes splurge on is with nail polish.  But I think that depends on what you would consider a splurge, I think OPIs at $9 is average and Chanel at $27 a splurge.  P.S. I only own one Chanel polish and the hubby bought it for me)

What about you?  What do you splurge on?

Please join me in checking out the other fabulous ladies to see their splurges.  I can't wait to see their answers!!

MABB Meet Up

Photobucket
On August 25th, the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers got together in Roswell for a meetup! We had a fantastic afternoon catching up, chatting 'blog talk' in person, and swapping makeup goodies!      - - - - - * - - - - -
It was so wonderful getting to meet all the ladies, in person, for lunch last month!!  I can't begin to tell you how much these ladies have meant to me!  When I started blogging last year, it was like I was thrown into the deep end of the pool for my first swimming lesson!  Honestly!  I didn't know the first thing about blogging, the terminology, the hows and whys...and then I found these ladies.  They have been an endless source of support, information and caring.  Even when they have to hold my hand and explain something to me step-by-step (you can make it where if you click on a picture it will take you to a website???  Really?? How???) and I didn't understand the first word in the explantion.  And these are the only ladies that can sympathize and make you laugh when you seem to attract people with a foot fetish!

And if it wasn't enough to eat, laugh and share stories with these incredible ladies, we brought goodies to share and swap!

I can't wait until our next meet-up!!  We will be starting our bi-weekly questions soon and be sure to keep checking with us...we are planning an incredible giveaway!!!  And be sure to add your blog to our blog hop!

MABB Bi-Weekly Beauty Question 5/8

Photobucket
Every other Wednesday, the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers will answer a beauty-related question just for fun! This week's question is... What are your beauty "bad habits"?

Sadly I have a lot of bad habits, but the worst and the most all center around my skin.  These are so bad.  I have a tendency to take afternoon naps...in my make up.  I don't always do the cleansing ritual everyday.  I rarely wear sunscreen.  And I don't lotion up everyday, and since moving to Georgia from Florida, I tend to have dry skin, especially my feet.  Oh, one more, I don't always clean my skin as well as I should, even on the days I do cleanse.   Like this weekend, I was exhausted and it was a quick wash and to bed!  Maybe now that I've publicly admitted them *hangs my head in shame* I will change them.

Be sure to see what the other fabulous ladies' bad habits are!!  Links are below.

MABB Bi-Weekly Question 4/24

Photobucket
Every other Wednesday, the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers will answer a beauty-related question just for fun! This week's question is... Product testing aside, on a daily basis do you stick to your "tried & true" favorites or do you like to experiment with different products?

Yes!  Ha ha.  I love doing both.  I'm pretty loyal to some of my tried and true products.  For example, I've been using the basic Oil of Olay lotion since I was 15.  I have tried a few others over the years, but I love my Oil of Olay.  And I used to be pretty loyal to my make up companies.  I only used two for the longest time, Merle Norman and Maybelline.  But about 15 years ago, after Merle Norman discontinued a favorite shade of blush...again...I started experimenting more.  And discovered there was a huge, wonderful world of make up out there!! I love to experiment all the time, unless I'm in a hurry!  Then I stick with my tried and trues.  Or if I have a big day or night ahead of me.  An important night isn't the time to try a smoky eye for the first time.  Trust me.  Been there, done that, and failed, ha ha.

The biggest lesson I've learned is that you can get some great make up for less.  If you only can invest in a few things, make them your make up brushes.  Great tools can work wonders with any make up.  But overall  I guess I'm pretty loyal, but always willing to experiment!!  What about you?

MABB Bi-Weekly Question $20 FOTD

Photobucket
Every other Wednesday, the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers will answer a beauty-related question just for fun! This week's question is...  Can you create a FOTD for $20 or less? Show us what products you would use!

NOTE: For this, we are not figuring sales tax, brushes, tools, or implements, just the regular cost of the actual make-up products.

Whew! I made it!  Usually here I say how much I love this week's question, but this week was really, really hard!!  One, I've had problems with my thyroid for 1 1/2 years and it's played havoc with me, so I'm not fond of pictures of me. And two, I love make-up!!  But limiting an entire face to only $20??  But, I kind of did it, ha ha.  The make up I bought for this challenge came to $18.85!  Yay me!  But I used an old blush and have no idea how much it cost.  I know it was pretty cheap (NYC), but the label is even worn off so I can't look it up.  So I'm going with the $18.85 :D Here are the items I bought:

NYC Individual Eyes Created for Blue Eyes $1.25 (on clearance for 75% off) *Although I don't have blue eyes, mine are gray)
NYC Smooch Proof Lip Stain 498 Berry Long Time $1.25 (on clearance for 75% off)
Maybelline Fit Me 132 Brute Beige $5.94
Maybelline Master Precise Eyeliner, black $6.44
Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express, black $2.97 (Buy 1 get one 50% off)
LA Colors Lip Gloss & Lip Stick (no name) $1.00
And the much worn NYC Cheek Glow in front

And the finished look:

So what do y'all think?  Did I make the $20 FOTD or did I cheat?  LOL  P.S. Sorry for the garbage can in the background.  Thank my bestie for that!  Don't forget to check out the other lovely MABB ladies and see what they chose!

Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers Bi-Weekly Question

Photobucket
Every other Wednesday, the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers will answer a beauty-related question just for fun! This week's question is... Knowing what you know now, what beauty advice would you give your teenage self?

Love this question! The first thing I would tell my teen self is stop using tanning OIL and put on sun screen!!!!  Sun causes wrinkles!! Among other dire things.

The next thing I would tell myself is to relax and have fun with fashion and make up.  I remember everything being so critical and dramatic...every decision about style and beauty had the weight of the world on it.  Funny thing is, I remember feeling that panic and worry and thinking how important this is...I just have no memory of what I was so worried about!!  There is a lot of life after the teen years!

And lastly, and I'm really embarrassed to say this, the "Madonna look" is NOT a good look!!!  Avoid at all cost!!!!

MABB Bi-Weekly Question

Photobucket
Each Wednesday, the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers will answer a beauty-related question just for fun! This week's question is... You're running late and you only have time to either do your makeup or hair.. which one do you choose?

Wow!  Really?  Only one?  That stinks!  Ok, I do my make-up.  As an *ahem* older woman, I am not about to leave the house without my make-up on.  And a complete face too; not just a little blush and lip gloss.  Nope!  I'm going to do the whole 9 yards; eyeshadow, eyeliner, foundation, plaster, everything!   Luckily being in the south, ponytails are still popular and always a quick and neat look.  So hair up and face on! What about you my lovelies?  What would you choose?  Be sure to follow the links below to see what my lovely fellow bloggers have picked.  I've got a feeling them young uns picked hair! Ha ha!

Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers Question of the Week

Photobucket
Each Wednesday, the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers will answer a beauty-related question just for fun! This week's question is... What are your favorite Spring beauty/polish collections so far?

Wow!  What a great question.  I'm really looking forward to a couple of collections of nail polish.  One is China Glaze's Spring Collection.  I love that it's not just pastels, by far not my favorite thing, but there are bright, highly pigmented colors also.  I'm especially eager to get my hands on Tart-Y For The Party, a pretty purple, and Dandy Lyin' Around, a shimmery white.

I'm also looking forward to is Orly's Spring Collection:

The only color I'm not looking forward to in this collection is the green, Coachella Dweller.  For me it's an odd shade of green and reminds me of the plates my mother used when I was growing up.  And the name makes me think of cockroaches, lol.  Watch, I'll buy it anyway and it will be my favorite!

And here is Finger Paints Spring Collection:
Look at those colors!  A gorgeous purple cream AND a purple glitter???  I love the pinks too!

Oh wait.  Was I only supposed to pick one? No?  Thank goodness!  I've narrowed it down to the THREE polish collections I'm most excited about!

What about you?  What are you looking forward to the most?  Look through the links below to see other great Spring collections!!

Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers Question of the Week

Photobucket
Each Wednesday, the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers will answer a beauty-related question just for fun! This week's question is... New York Fashion Week starts tomorrow! What are you most looking forward to seeing during the upcoming week?

First I would like to announce that I am now a member of the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers!!!  Yay!!  I am so excited to be a member of this incredible group of women!!  They are so sweet and really have their pulse on all things beautiful!  I look forward to getting to know them even better!!

Now for my very first question:  I'm super excited for this Fashion Week since it's my first as a blogger.  Ok I was blogging during the fall Fashion Week, but I was really, really new...now I have a (slightly) better idea of what is going on. So I can't wait to see what new nail trends there will be.  I love some of the new finishes that have appeared, like the liquid sand, and am wondering what else is coming.  I also love unusual color combinations and fashion week is always a great place to find these.  I can't wait!  - - - - - * - - - - - Be sure to check out the other Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers' answers!
