Thanksgiving / Fall Glitter

Hi Y'all!!  I hope you are somewhere dry and warm cause I'm sure not!!!  Really?  Rain?  Flooding?  Highs in the low 40's?  If we even reach the 40's.  And tomorrow morning's forecast calls for snow!  I live in the south dang it!!!  I miss Florida!  I miss Summer!  The one and only day of the year that should be cold and possibly snowy is Christmas Day.  Other than that, you can have it!  But at least the shopping for Thanksgiving is done and the now-a-teen doesn't have dance, so other than walking the babies, I can stay inside :)

I have one more Thanksgiving/Fall manicure for you today, a pretty glitter combination:

I Used:
Orly- Rapture (brown crème)
Orly- Lavish Bash (gold and holo top coat)

For this mani I started with two coats of Orly Rapture, a gorgeous, rich, chocolate crème.  Love this color.  I then topped it with one coat of Orly Lavish Bash.  Lavish Bash is a clear base polish with micro gold, small holo hexagon and small holo bar glitter.  And yep, that's just one coat.  I'm sure with two or three coats you could get complete coverage.  And it's definitely worth trying because it's gorgeous!  I love, love this polish!

Pictures do not do this polish justice, it is incredible in person.  Sadly, I wore it for two days and the sun never came out, not once.  But it captures the smallest amount of light and sparkles like crazy!

Autumn Trees (Or Fall Leaves)

Happy Monday Y'all!!  Can you believe it's already November??  This year seems to be flying by.  I could have sworn Summer had just started.  Oh well, guess I just need to count down the days until shorts weather (I hate the cold in case you haven't noticed!).  So to get myself in the spirit, I created a Fall mani:

I Used:
Orly- Chocoholic (medium brown with a subtle silver shimmer)
China Glaze- Merry Berry (a dark berry/red crème)
Julep- Natasha (orange crème)
Spoiled- Designated Driver (dark yellow crème)
Cotton Swabs
Liner Brush (toothpick will work too)
100% Acetone

This was a fun and easy(I'm just very detailed in my instructions) mani to do and it got a lot of attention.  Here's how:
1.  Paint your nails a base color.  I used the dark yellow, Spoiled Designated Driver, in two coats.
2.  You do need to use the 100% acetone to get this effect.  It can be found in drugstores, grocery stores. 
3.  Gather all your polishes.  Then starting with the darkest color, drop a little on to a paper plate or a piece of paper. 
4.  Dip your cotton swab in the acetone and then into the polish on the plate.  Repeat this step a couple of times to thin out your polish.  Do not pour the acetone into your polish bottle because that will ruin it.  You're looking for the color to be a little see-through/translucent.
5.  Then just dab random spots onto your nail, starting with your darkest color, and ending with the lightest.
6. Finally, using a liner brush or toothpick, create the branches by making short lines.  You don't want them to be real big, so that it looks like they are peeking out from the tree.
7.  Use top coat, and viola!!

Mish Mash Challenge: Rainbow

Hey Y'all!!!  Guess what day it is???  Yep, Wednesday (lol, and you thought I was going to say Hump Day)!  So that means I have two posts to get up today!  First, it's Mish Mash Wednesday and today's theme is Rainbows!  I love doing rainbows, so much so that it has its own label (in the right column of the blog), but the challenge is how to do a different rainbow.

I know that after today and seeing every one's great manis I'll have a ton of manis to try.   But I've had this one idea for a while, a loose rainbow color block with black and clear water marble over it.  And since it's Fall, I went with jewel tones:

I Used:
Color Club-  (red with a gold shimmer)
Orly- Flicker (rusty orange shimmer)
China Glaze- Lighthouse (yellow glass fleck)
Hard Candy- Bity Blue (blue shimmer)
Ulta- Envy (green shimmer)
Fright Night Claw Polish- Poison (purple shimmer)
Orly- Liquid Vinyl (black crème)
Sally Hansen-  (clear)
Make Up Sponges


I really like how this turned out.  I love the deep jewel tones, and thanks to those dark colors, the bubbles in the black don't show up in real life (note: my Orly Liquid Vinyl is very bubbly, lol)

Barielle: Sophisticated Lady

Hi Y'all!!  Happy Thursday!!  We're almost to the weekend!!  I can't wait. Not that I'm doing anything special, just love the weekend!  This is going to be a pic heavy post so let's get right to it :)

So for today I have the rest of Barielle's Fall Collection, Sophisticated Lady!! All pictures show two coats with top coat.  First up, London High Tea:

London High Tea, is a pretty, vintage, dusty pink with a golden shimmer.  This is such a soft, feminine pink that just screams Victorian parlors to me.  But while it does remind me of my great-grandmother, it still feels young and fresh.

Dusty pinks really aren't my thing, but I really like this!

Next is Tres Chic:

Tres Chic is a steely, dark blue crème that is such a perfect Fall neutral, and can easily be worn in to Winter.  I really love this color!

Dinner at 8 is a classic red crème:

Love this so much!  Dinner at 8 is a red that leans more to the blue than orange, so it will look great on you if you love cool colors.

Just a perfect red!

Sadly, the next color didn't have a label so I have no idea what the name of this fab brown is, but here it is:

This is such a pretty brown.  It is a medium shade of brown with a copper/pinkish shimmer to it:

See that shimmer?  Love it!

OK, I've saved the best, or in other words, my favorite for last, Edgy:

Edgy is a dark, vampy eggplant purple with red undertones.  Ok, this color is just too perfect!

This is my new favorite Fall purple!

The formula on these was fabulous! No dragging or balding although you do need two coats on all of them to get an even finish.  These are all just great polishes and perfect for Fall.  They can be found on Barielle's website for $8.00 each.

Review: Zoya Pepper, Louise & Maria Luisa

Hi Y'all!!  Happy Monday!!  Since I'm running late and have 40 things to do this afternoon, I'm going to get right to the review!

A few days ago, I went to Ulta and they had the new Fall collection, Cashmere and Satins.  I picked up three, Pepper, Louise and Maria Luisa.  First up is Pepper:

I loved Pepper just from the swatches I had seen and new I had to have it.  Pepper is a rusty, red leaning brown crème.  The formula was fantastic!  No issues at all.  It went on beautifully.  The pictures show two coats with top coat.  I do suggest wearing a base coat for both natural and acrylic nails.  There was just slight staining, but it disappeared after the next polish and removal.

Next up is Louise:

Louise is a pretty chocolate brown crème.  It's perfect for Fall.  The first coat does go on very blotchy, but the second coat will smooth it all out.  Other than that there were no issues with it, it worked and looked beautiful.  Pictures show two coats with top coat.

Last, but not least is Maria Luisa (over Louise):

Maria Luisa is a top coat with gold irregular shaped glitter in a clear base.  Pictures show one coat of Maria Luisa with top coat.  This polish is packed full of gorgeous gold glitter and dries to a smooth finish.  I can not wait to try this out with other colors!!!

Review: Salon Perfect Raisin The Roof & Ivy League

Hey Y'all!!  How was your weekend?  We had a great weekend of taking it easy and watching football.  Although my favorite team lost :(  But I still love my Bucs!!  And I still won the family football pool so I'm good.

I noticed on a recent trip to Walmart, Salon Perfect had released their Fall colors.  I wasn't too impressed with most of the colors, but I did pick up two, Raisin the Roof and Ivy League.  Since the formula and experience with both polishes were the same, I'll tell you about that after the pictures, cause it's the pictures we really want to see isn't it?  The pictures show two coats with top coat.

Raisin the Roof 

Raisin the Roof is a pretty dark, frosty brown with a subtle gold shimmer:

 

 

Ivy League

Ivy League is a dark, shimmery green:

 

The formula on both polishes was great.  It wasn't too thin or too thick.  They went on without any dragging or balding.    There was a little streaking with the first coat, but it all evened out by the second.

 

These were my first Salon Perfect polishes.  I had heard a lot about them and was anxious to try them.  And while I do love the colors of Raisin the Roof and Ivy League, I don't think there is anything special about them  They're pretty, work fine and are pretty reasonably priced ($3.98 each at Walmart).  I have seen other bloggers swatching more unique polishes from Salon Perfect (like ones that look like floam), but my Walmart has yet to get any of them, and they definitely aren't any in their Fall collection.  Bottom line?  I guess I'm kind of on the fence about them.  I like them, just don't see anything special about them.  I will keep my eyes open though to see what they release in the future.  What do y'all think of them?

Review: China Glaze Fall 2013 Collection, Part II

Hi Y'all!!  I am so excited!  Laptop is fixed!  Countess Delilah is forgiven!  And I'm now, excitedly, ready to show you Part II of the China Glaze Fall Collection for 2013, Autumn Nights!  So I'm going to get right to it, Strike Up A Cosmo!  All photos show two coats with top coat, except for two, which is stated below.

Don't Make Me Wine

Don't Make Me Wine is a gorgeous, wine/burgundy colored shimmer.  Although to me it looks more like a frost.  Whatever finish it is, it's beautiful  The formula was perfect  This could easily be a one coat polish.

 

Tongue & Chic

Tongue & Chic is a dark, rich highly pigmented green.  This is just stunning!!  Formula was perfect on it and again it could easily be a one coat polish.

 

Red-Y & Willing

First, these pictures show ONE COAT with top coat.  Red-Y &Willing is a fantastic, rich, classy dark red shimmer/frost.  I can not tell you how much I love this color  And it will be perfect for the holidays.  I think this may be my favorite of the whole collection!

 

 

 

 

Scandalous Shenanigans

Scandalous Shenanigans is a gorgeous, deep, dark blue that will be perfect for Fall and Winter.  Formula was wonderful.  Pictures show ONE COAT with top coat.  The one and only negative about this polish is that when I was removing it, it temporarily died my cuticles blue (you'll see it in one of the shimmers below).  Although within an hour or two of washing my hands it did go away.  Besides this polish is too pretty to let that stop me.

 

 

Strike Up A Cosmo

Strike Up A Cosmo is a beautiful, light pink shimmer that is almost a glass fleck it is so reflective.  The formula was wonderful, but I would recommend two coats just because I think it increases the sparkle.  Isn't it pretty?  (P.S.  You can see how Scandalous Shenanigans dyed my fingers, but it was gone within a couple of hours) 

 

 

Goldie But Goodie

Goldie But Goodie is an incredible, glittery, sparkly gold that will be perfect in the Fall and Winter!  It's just perfection!  The formula was perfect, pictures show two coats with top coat.
