Happy Halloween!! Red & Black Design

Happy Halloween Y'all!!  So tell me, what plans do you have for this most frightening of days???  Since my now-a-teen is too old for trick-or-treating and too young for parties, she and I are having a "Halloween" movie marathon!!  An entire day of Michael Myers ripping people apart!!  Did I mention this is her first time seeing a horror movie?  Last year I introduced the idea of horror movie with Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, so why not step it up this year?

But I do have a Halloween mani:
I Used:
Sinful Colors- Black on Black (black crème)
Fright Night Claw Polish- Voodoo (red crelly with red glitter)
Dotting tool

I realize that most bloody drips are colored the opposite way, but y'all know I have to be different.
I love how glittery Voodoo is!
I hope y'all enjoy today's mani!  I would love to see yours!  Just share them on my facebook page.  Now back to my Halloween movie marathon!  Happy Halloween!!

Mish Mash Challenge: Pink

Hey Y'all!!  I'm so excited!!  It's Wednesday so that means it's time for the Mish Mash Challenge!  And this week's theme is PINK, which is perfect since it's Breast Cancer Awareness month.  So with that in mind, here is my challenge mani:
I Used:
Finger Paints- Brushstroke Blush (very pale pink crème)
Orly- Oh Cabana Boy (shimmery bright pink)
China Glaze- 108 Degrees (dark glass fleck pink)
I love how this water marble turned out.  The colors really worked well together.
Click here for my water marble tutorial!

I especially love 108 Degrees by China Glaze.  It is such a pretty pink or probably closer to fuchsia.  And with the glass fleck, the glitter is amazing!

Be sure to join me in checking out all the fabulous pink manis from Kimber's Amazing (and they really are) Challenge Ladies in the links below!!  Happy Polishing!!

TIOT: A England Jane Eyre

Hi Y'all!!  It's Tuesday so that means it's time for Try It On Tuesday!!  This week I have A England Jane Eyre:
Jane Eyre is a beautiful dark purple/burgundy with a purple shimmer that in certain light will also glitter gold and brown.  I can't even tell y'all how gorgeous this polish is!
Isn't it fabulous??  Pictures show two coats with top coat.  The formula was perfect, no balding, no dragging, deep pigmentation.  In fact, you could get away one coat but I think it needs two to get that deep color.  This is my first and only A England, but it won't be my last!

I ordered this off of Color 4 Nails and it cost $10.00.  Everything went great with the order and the polish was shipped out in a timely manner.  If you haven't checked this site out yet, go check them out.

And don't forget to go to Sassy Paints' facebook page to see every one's TIOT manis!  Happy Polishing!!

"Eye" See You

Hey Y'all!!!  Happy Monday!!  I hope y'all had a great weekend and are ready to face the new week.  And it's a great week, Halloween week!!  My now-a-teen is at that awkward age where she's too old for trick-or-treating, but too young for parties.  I miss seeing her all dressed up, but by the age of two, she no longer let me pick her costumes.  That meant a couple of years of adorable costumes, and a couple of years of...well, not my choice costumes, lol.  What about you?  Are you getting dressed up?

Anyway, in honor of Halloween, I have a "spooky" mani for you, "Eye" See You:
I Used:
Icing- Twilight (black crelly with silver glitter)
Fantasy Makers- Nail In The Coffin (black jelly with sparse orange micro glitter)
Fright Night Claw Polish- Voodoo (red jelly with red glitter)
Fright Night Claw Polish- Poison (purple shimmer)
Orly- Flicker (rusty orange shimmer)
Dotting Tools

So the idea was to make spooky eyes staring out...but according to my loving family, the eyes are "cute".  Well dang.  I thought they were scary.  Especially the ones on both thumbs.
You're scared now aren't you?  Going to have to sleep with the lights on kind of scared, right?  Ok, lie to me and just say you're scared, lol.

I hope y'all enjoy today's mani.  If you re-create it, post your pics on my facebook page!  I would love to see this come out scary!  Happy Polishing!!

MABB Bi-Weekly Question Fall Fragrances

Every other Wednesday, the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers will answer a beauty-related question just for fun! This week's question is...
What are your go-to fall fragrances?
[Your answer goes here!]

So, let me start with this:  I hate flowers.  I know, anti-feminine.  But I can't stand them.  The only flower print you will find in my house is there because someone else gave it to me...and it's probably hidden.  So you know the answer here isn't going to be anything overtly flowery.  During the Fall (and Winter) I love spicy perfume.  Sandalwood, cinnamon, clove....anything but musk.

My all time favorite perfume is no longer made :(  It was Uninhibited by Cher, a sandalwood based perfume.
So now my favorite is Shalimar:
While there are subtle notes of flowers, the main impression of Shalimar is spicy and exotic.

I'm still on the lookout for a new favorite perfume, so if you have any suggestions, please let me know.  Meanwhile, I'm off to check out the MABB ladies' favorite perfumes.  Maybe I'll find a new one.

Mish Mash Challenge: Rainbow

Hey Y'all!!!  Guess what day it is???  Yep, Wednesday (lol, and you thought I was going to say Hump Day)!  So that means I have two posts to get up today!  First, it's Mish Mash Wednesday and today's theme is Rainbows!  I love doing rainbows, so much so that it has its own label (in the right column of the blog), but the challenge is how to do a different rainbow.

I know that after today and seeing every one's great manis I'll have a ton of manis to try.   But I've had this one idea for a while, a loose rainbow color block with black and clear water marble over it.  And since it's Fall, I went with jewel tones:
I Used:
Color Club-  (red with a gold shimmer)
Orly- Flicker (rusty orange shimmer)
China Glaze- Lighthouse (yellow glass fleck)
Hard Candy- Bity Blue (blue shimmer)
Ulta- Envy (green shimmer)
Fright Night Claw Polish- Poison (purple shimmer)
Orly- Liquid Vinyl (black crème)
Sally Hansen-  (clear)
Make Up Sponges

I really like how this turned out.  I love the deep jewel tones, and thanks to those dark colors, the bubbles in the black don't show up in real life (note: my Orly Liquid Vinyl is very bubbly, lol)
I hope y'all enjoy today's mani.  Be sure to join me in checking out the other ladies in the Mish Mash Challenge.  Just click on the links below.  I can't wait to see what they've done!!  Happy Polishing!!!

TIOT: Finger Paints Art of Theft

Happy Tuesday Y'all!!  How's your day going?  Mine is going ok...not bad, not great.  Although I did have the most fabulous burger today at Ruby Tuesday's.  And they cooked to medium rare!   So hard to get a burger cooked the way I want.  Lol, that's probably the only reason I liked it.

Anyway, thanks to the fab Sassy Paints, it's Try It On Tuesday!  Today I have Art of Theft by Finger Paints:
Art of Theft is a midnight blue with a purple shimmer.  Can I just say I love this?  The formula was good.  It only took two coats to reach opaque. It was a streaky for the first coat, but it did clear up on the second.  Pictures show two coats with top coats.  I didn't have any issues with it.
It's hard to see in the photos but the shimmer is there in real life giving this blue a very deep feel.
I bought this on clearance at Sally's Beauty Supply about three months ago and I'm sad that I waited, it's beautiful!!
I'm not sure what collection this was part of, but I do know that is was the color of the month in 2010.

Be sure to check out Sassy Paints' facebook page to see every one's TIOT!  Y'all have a fabulous day and I'll see you tomorrow for the Mish Mash Challenge!  Happy Polishing!!

Halloween Multi Drips

Hi Y'all!!  Happy Monday!  Are y'all ready for the Fall weather yet??  I'm not!!  It was 63 degrees in the house this morning!  Yuck!!  And today and tomorrow are the last days in the 70's.  After that it's all 60's and 40's.  I'm just not a cold weather kind of gal...and this is just the Fall!!  I have a feeling it's going to be a miserably cold Winter :(

But I do love Fall activities, football, new tv season (loving Sleepy Hallow and can't wait for Dracula Friday), harvest festivals and Halloween.  And today I have Halloween Multi Drips for you:
I Used:
Orly- Liquid Vinyl (black crème)
Color Club- Daisy Does It (yellow glass fleck)
Color Club- Disco Dress (purple crème)
Zoya- Dhara (orange glitter texture polish)
Dotting Tools

Since I did the tutorial for drips here, I'll just give you a couple of tips.  The first thing I figured out was I shouldn't have used a textured polish!  I love Zoya Dhara and I think it's the perfect Halloween orange, but because of it's texture, it didn't work great here.  I would suggest using all crèmes actually.  Also, start with the lightest color first, then the darkest color on top.  My favorite finger is my index finger...I think I should have stayed with that order.
I like the idea of this design, and I really like several of the fingers.  I think I'm going to have to try this again with Winter colors.  What do y'all think?  Have a fabulous Monday!!  Happy Polishing!!

Halloween Splatter

Hi my Lovelies!!!  Ok, so I'm a little late...I meant to get this up Friday, but the day just got away from me.  But I have it now!

So for today, I have Halloween Splatter Nails!!  These are my first, and possibly last splatter nails!!  Honestly!  This was one of the hardest and messiest techniques I've ever tried!!  But, I'll admit, the pay off was big:
I Used:
Orly- Liquid Vinyl (black crème)
Color Club- Disco Dress (the perfect purple crème)
Color Club- Daisy Does It (bright yellow glass fleck)
Zoya- Dhara (glittery orange textured polish)
Sinful Colors- Snow Me White (white crème)

Ok, my first advice: put scotch tape around your nails!  I didn't and I had a huge mess to clean up!!  To start this, I painted all my finger nails black except my ring finger which I painted white.  Then place a few drops of your polish (I suggest working with one color at a time) on a plate or a piece of paper.  Now comes the hard part, lol, dip the straw in the polish.  No really, this is the hard part!  The polish has to make a film across the bottom of the straw or it won't work.  I found thicker polish worked better.  Then place the straw over your nails and blow.  Just alternate your colors (which one you use first) so each nail will look different.
I hope y'all enjoy these!!  I'm off to find the last bit for my Halloween Polish Swap!  Enjoy your Saturday! Happy Polishing!!

Barielle: Sophisticated Lady

Hi Y'all!!  Happy Thursday!!  We're almost to the weekend!!  I can't wait. Not that I'm doing anything special, just love the weekend!  This is going to be a pic heavy post so let's get right to it :)

So for today I have the rest of Barielle's Fall Collection, Sophisticated Lady!! All pictures show two coats with top coat.  First up, London High Tea:
London High Tea, is a pretty, vintage, dusty pink with a golden shimmer.  This is such a soft, feminine pink that just screams Victorian parlors to me.  But while it does remind me of my great-grandmother, it still feels young and fresh.
Dusty pinks really aren't my thing, but I really like this!

Next is Tres Chic:
Tres Chic is a steely, dark blue crème that is such a perfect Fall neutral, and can easily be worn in to Winter.  I really love this color!

Dinner at 8 is a classic red crème:
Love this so much!  Dinner at 8 is a red that leans more to the blue than orange, so it will look great on you if you love cool colors.
Just a perfect red!

Sadly, the next color didn't have a label so I have no idea what the name of this fab brown is, but here it is:
This is such a pretty brown.  It is a medium shade of brown with a copper/pinkish shimmer to it:
See that shimmer?  Love it!
If any one knows the name of this polish, please let me know in the comments!

OK, I've saved the best, or in other words, my favorite for last, Edgy:
Edgy is a dark, vampy eggplant purple with red undertones.  Ok, this color is just too perfect!
This is my new favorite Fall purple!

The formula on these was fabulous! No dragging or balding although you do need two coats on all of them to get an even finish.  These are all just great polishes and perfect for Fall.  They can be found on Barielle's website for $8.00 each.

If you missed the first half of their Fall collection, Nude & Naughty, click here.

I hope y'all have enjoyed these swatches.  I'm so thankful to Barielle for holding this giveaway.
Enjoy your day!  Happy Polishing!!

Mish Mash Challenge: Flowers

I'm beginning to think that the Internet hates me...Or my computer does...Or something does, because I can't seem to get anything to work this week.  Maybe this is a sign I need some time off, lol.

But I finally have today's mani for you (better late than never, right?).  It's Wednesday so that means it's time for the Mish Mash Challenge and today's theme is flowers.  So I came up with a flowery jelly sandwich:
I Used:
Loreal- Berry Nice (dark purple jelly)
Dotting Tools (or a toothpick would work too)
Pink and White Acrylic Paint
For the first time ever I used acrylic paint (for the flowers) because I wanted to make sure they would show through the layers of polish.  I used Loreal Berry Nice from their recent candy collection.  I started with two coats. Then a couple of flowers, another coat of polish, another flower, one more coat of polish then one last flower.  It's all kinds of squishy, purple goodness!

I hope y'all enjoyed my flowers :)  Be sure to check out the other ladies' flower manis...I've seen some incredible designs!!  See y'all tomorrow!  Happy Polishing!!
